On October 24th and 25th, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) hosted its 2016 EB-5 Investors Summit in Washington, D.C.  The theme of the event was “Representing EB-5 Investors & Regional Centers in a Time of Upheaval.” Farah S. Abbas, the Attorney/Owner of Abbas Law PLLC, presented on the introductory panel of the conference.

Along with two other panelists, Ms. Abbas provided a general background perspective of the EB-5 industry, focusing on the key topics and issues to be covered during the program.  The panel included a discussion of EB-5 legislation, visa alternatives in common scenarios, EB-5 eligibility, Regional Centers vs. Direct EB-5 Investments, and other considerations when counseling clients on matters related to the EB-5 program.

The EB-5 Investors Summit is for both entry-level and experienced EB-5 lawyers and others in the EB-5 industry.   It covers cutting edge issues with in-depth panels that provide an opportunity to learn from all the critical parts of an EB-5 team, including immigration lawyers, securities and business lawyers, economists, developers, registered brokers and advisors, and regional center principals, as well as government officials, in a framework that provides practical information for attorneys representing individual investors and/or regional centers.
