Federal Judges Prohibit Key Provisions of Travel Ban 2.0

Just hours before the Trump Administration’s March 6th Executive Order (“Travel Ban 2.0”) went into effect, federal judges made nationwide rulings that kept key provisions of the order from being implemented.  Both decisions, from federal judges in Hawaii and Maryland, agree that the travel ban was likely intended to discriminate against Muslims.

These orders are not final; the travel ban will continue to be argued in court as these cases may be appealed and as other cases continue to be brought against the Executive Order.  But what does this mean for travelers and refugees to the U.S. right now?

1 – Travelers from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen will be able to travel to the U.S. and obtain visas.

2 – Refugees will be able to travel to the U.S.

We will continue to add more information as the news continues to break on this important development.  Please also see these news reports on the rulings against the Travel Ban:
